The 2016 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Chalumeaux, matured in just under 15% new oak, has a fine, quite minerally bouquet with touches of limestone and granite. This is nicely detailed. The palate is well defined with a fine bead of acidity, fresh citric fruit with good depth and a brisk saline finish that will keep you coming back for more.

An intense but balanced nose of dried daffodils, apricot pie, dried peaches, vanilla, dried nutmeg and a hint of dried citrus rind. Full-bodied with an oily texture, which is well complemented by some bright acidity and layers of stone fruit. Full and charming white. Drink now or hold.

A linear and firm white with sliced apples, light vanilla and cream. Medium body, a light phenolic texture and a flavorful yet focused finish. Shows complexity and seriousness. Drink or hold.

A white from the island of Giglio that shows so much depth and layers reminding me of top Burgundy. Full to medium body, polished and very long. Shows a class and uniqueness that only that island can deliver.

A firm and focused version, offering an expressive display of lychee, pink grapefruit sorbet, jasmine and spice aromas and flavors, all finely meshed with stony minerality and vibrant acidity on the lacy palate. Drink now through 2025. 1,200 cases made.

Freshly squeezed nectarines, dried jasmine, orange blossom, vanilla, peach flan, dried mangoes, jack fruit and plenty of bread dough. Full body, a very round and oily mouthfeel, expansive and commanding acidity and a long finish.

The anchor grape, Roussanne (80 per cent of the blend) is working well here, holding the acidity nicely. This has waxy, apple and lemon aromas with some pear perfume, too. Crisp, pear flavors on the gently creamy, elegant and open-knit palate. Delicately crisp. Drink or hold.
